Project: TVO’s mPower
Language/Engine: HTML5, TypeScript, PhaserJS
This game was created for the mPower project, a collection of educational games focusing on the Ontario School Board curriculum for Kindergarten through to Grade 6.
The purpose of this game was to create a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) game focusing on space and the concepts of maintaining balance of various resources. The designer came up with a game where players would build a space station where they would need to go from one side of the station to the other while balancing the resources of air, water, and electricity.
This was a fairly straightforward, albeit fun, project. The main challenge of building the game was in the animations for the various modules that were given—the entire project was fairly animation heavy. It was also necessary for me to coordinate with the artist to best optimize the assets so that I wasn’t getting any duplicate elements, and ensuring the assets I received would keep the overall file size down to a minimum.
Bonus: Everything about this game is super adorable; kudos to the artist!
