Ludum Dare has always been such a major game jam, and I was quite surprised that I hadn’t participated before. So this was my first Ludum Dare entry.

Combining 2 genres was a pretty daunting task, and most jams, it was quite difficult to come up with something to start. I did, however, know that I wanted to try my hand at creating a rogue-like, and eventually the soccer portion fell into place (though I can’t quite remember what my thought process behind this was).

The dungeon generator was thrown together rather quickly, and it was by no means elegant. It was simply a RNG to decide what wall would open and what room/hall it would become. The ball mechanic could have also been a bit more elegant, as damage was calculated based on how fast the ball was moving, resulting in enemies dying because they were the ones moving the ball.

Despite this, I think the concept was quite fun to put together, and it could potentially be an interesting game with more polish.
